About Leigh

Leigh Martin - Civil Marriage CelebrantI am a graduate of the Monash University Civil Celebrantsā€™ Graduate Diploma Course (2003), and as a result am a member of the Civil Celebrants Graduates Association www.monashcelebrants.net.au.

This qualification, and my extensive training in public speaking, guarantees my performance as a professional celebrant.

Since 1997 I have been a member of International Training in Communication. This is a public speaking training organisation. I am currently the Australian Region Speech Competition Champion.

My passion for public speaking drives my passion for celebrancy. But it is the life experiences that I have accumulated throughout my life that give me the skills to be a considerate, compassionate, creative and understanding celebrant. I have worked in community services since 1978, working with families in the field of disability and childcare.

Many years ago, before the arrival of my family, I was an active member of several amateur theatre companies. This experience on stage, understanding the craft of an actor, relating the drama of the piece and confidence before an audience, allows me to create a ceremony with a sense of theatre and presence. It ensures that each ceremony I perform, is remembered by those that participate in it, and enjoyed by those that witness it.

The culmination of all these life experiences was my graduation from Monash with my Graduate Diploma in Civil Ceremonies in 2003.

I am equally comfortable performing weddings, funerals, baby naming ceremonies and commitment ceremonies. I see each ceremony as a recognition of the milestones in life, each of which deserves to be celebrated in a fitting and appropriate way.

"There are four ways and only four ways in which we have contact with the world.
We are evaluated and classified by these four contacts:
What we do, how we look, what we say and how we say it." ...Dale CarnegieĀ
